Introducing NexSpark Magnetism

We built NexSpark Friends to solve the finding-people problem: get matched into a Circle, show up, meet people who are actually compatible with you. But a message kept coming back to us, gently at first and then not so gently: I found people. I still freeze before I text them.

That's a different problem, and it's the one Magnetism is for. Not everyone who struggles with friendship is missing people to meet. Some of us are missing the nerve to close the gap once someone's actually standing right there, the small brave step of texting first, showing up to the thing, staying at the party past the polite twenty minutes.

What it actually is

Magnetism is a self-guided program, live now inside NexSpark Friends, for friendship anxiety and avoidance. It isn't a stack of theory. It's three simple pieces of scaffolding, plus somewhere to put them to use.

A courage ladder you build yourself: your own list of small brave things, ranked from easiest to hardest, so you're never staring at a step bigger than the one you can actually take today. Behavioral experiments: you write down what you're afraid will happen before you try something, then you actually try it, then you write down what really happened. Most of the useful work turns out to live in that gap. And a relationship garden, a private place to notice how your actual friendships are actually growing, at whatever pace they're growing, instead of only noticing the ones that stalled.

It starts with a three-week core program, one small guided day at a time, and then keeps going through a longer stretch built for the part that's usually harder than starting: making it stick.

What it isn't

Magnetism is educational self-help, not therapy and not a crisis service, and it doesn't pretend otherwise. If you're in danger right now, please call or text 988 or call 911, not us. If you want a quick sounding board at 11pm about today's step, there's an in-app companion for that, grounded in your own program, that can talk something through with you. It just can't do anything on your behalf, and it's never a substitute for an actual person.

If this sounds like you but the whole idea of a program feels like too much right now, our friendship type quiz is a lighter first move, and we've also written specifically about making friends with social anxiety if you want to read before you commit to anything.

How to start

Magnetism lives inside your NexSpark Friends account, so if you already have one, it's a sign-in and a few minutes away. If you don't, making one takes about the same amount of time. You can pause it or leave whenever you want, and everything you put into it is yours to export or delete on your own terms, whether you're using it right now or you left months ago.

Meeting people was never really the hard part for you. It was what came after.

We can't make the nervous system stop being nervous. What we can do is make the next small step smaller, and give you somewhere to notice you actually took it.

From the same team

The same team also runs a matchmaking service

NexSpark Matchmaking is a separate service on a separate site, run by the same people and built on the same compatibility work. Entirely optional and nothing to do with your Circle or your Magnetism progress. If you are curious how it works, read whether matchmaking is actually worth it.
