NexSpark Friends / Verification
Verified friend groups: how every Circle is checked
Everyone in your Circle verifies their ID with a government photo ID and a selfie before the Circle starts.
Meeting strangers is easier when the only unknown is whether you will click, not whether the person is real. That is the whole idea. A standard Circle is four people (in some cases, such as remote areas, a Circle may start with three), and each of them has been checked before anyone sits down at the same table.
How it works
- Take the friendship quiz.Answer a few honest questions and save your profile. No ID is needed for this part.
- We look for a Circle that fits you.We match on temperament, interests, and where you live, so the group is near you.
- When we find one, we ask you to verify. You photograph a government ID and take a selfie through our partner Didit. It takes a few minutes on your phone, and verifying is how you say yes to being placed.
- Once everyone has verified, your Circle starts.Everyone in the Circle has completed the same check, so you can focus on the part that matters: whether you click.
What we keep and what we don't
Didit matches your ID photo and your selfie under its own privacy terms. Didit tells us only whether the check passed, a reference number, the date, and your date of birth for the age check. We never receive or keep a copy of your document or your selfie.
To remove it, email hello@nexspark.com from your registered address and we will delete your data within 30 days, verification confirmation included. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
What verification does not do
It is not a background check, and we do not run background checks. Verification confirms that a person is who they say they are and that they are 18 or older, which is the age NexSpark Friends is built for (see our child safety standards). It is one layer of care, not a guarantee about anyone's character, so the usual good sense about meeting new people still applies: choose public places and trust your instincts.
Questions
Is verification free?
Yes. The identity check is free. You complete it once, on your phone, and it takes a few minutes.
Why don't you verify me when I sign up?
Because the request comes when we find a Circle we can place you in, not at signup. That way you verify only when it leads to a real Circle. Taking the friendship quiz and saving your profile do not need it.
Do you see my ID?
No. You photograph your ID and take a selfie, and our partner Didit matches the two under its own privacy terms. Didit tells us only whether the check passed, a reference number, the date, and your date of birth for the age check. We never receive or keep a copy of your document or your selfie.
What if someone in my Circle doesn't verify?
Everyone in a Circle must verify before it starts. If someone does not, we can place someone else in their spot. We do not promise a timeline, because it depends on who is nearby and ready.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The check takes a few minutes on your phone. You use its camera to photograph your government ID and take your selfie.
Ready when you are
Start with the quiz. You will only be asked to verify once we have found a Circle for you.
