Happy Fourth. We call it Independence Day, but almost nobody spends it alone by choice. It's a cookout holiday, a rooftop holiday, a who-are-you-watching-the-fireworks-with holiday. The best version of today has very little to do with independence and everything to do with the people around you.
Which is exactly why it can be one of the harder days of the year if you're new here. If you moved to Atlanta this year for a job and haven't found your people yet, the Fourth has a way of making that loud, everyone else seems to have a backyard to be in, and you're deciding between a rooftop full of strangers and staying home.
The Fourth is a friendship holiday. If you don't have a table to go to yet, that's not a you problem, it's a room problem.
